Saturday 9th January 2016

First, there was a lone tent and a flag….

Tent and Flag

Next came the runners, supporters and the mud (of course)! This year the County Cross Country Championships were in our own back yard at Burbage Common. So great to see so many Hinckley runners and supporters. Big thanks to all.

Both the ladies and the men’s team just missed out on a podium position and finished 4th. Team Results here.

Bethan Padbury ran in the U17 race and came 7th. Kate Perkins finished 8th in the Senior Ladies. Both had papers for the county team, well done.  Full individual results can be found here. More details at www.lraa.org.uk

Markfield 10k was cancelled – next race Barrow 6 this Sunday 24th January 2016.

MARKFIELD 10K CANCELLED DUE TO ICE AND SNOW

(Update 07:00, Sunday 17th January, 2016)
Good morning everyone. Unfortunately our race director and his team have inspected the course this morning and due to the roads being very icy underfoot and the school itself having a good covering of snow we have reluctantly made the decision to cancel this morning’s planned LRRL Winter League Race.

Can you please share this message and redistribute amongst your club’s members so we can try and prevent runners from making a wasted journey in poor driving conditions. We have people on site who will inform any runners who turn up that the race is cancelled.

Thanks,
Beaumont RC

Bradgate Park Derby Runner League XC Results 2015

Bradgate Park is a haven for runners wanting a challenging and picturesque place to run. Many HRC members can be found training there. On Sunday 6th December 2015 it saw host to a Derby Runner League XC for the second year running (pun intended).

It looked like everyone might be running in a storm, but turned out quite nice in the end! A great turn out, thanks to everyone who ran or supported.

Results have been finalised and uploaded on the results page.

As a Team we were 5th in the race, left us in now joint 4th overall. I know the next one is the day after the County XC but we could do with a good turn out both days.
Men finished 5th again and droped one place to 6th overall.
Ladies finished 5th and remain in 2nd place.

Ben Harding led the men’s team finishing 4th! Well done Ben.
Chris Limmer and then Dave Masser followed Ben to make the top 3 HRC men.

Great to see Steve Chapman make his début both at a XC and in Blue and White.

Notable improvement for Nick Moore on his second XC, well done! And nice to see Ed Batch back on XC and doing well.

Runner of the day goes to Dave Masser, nice to see Dave back racing again and with a great performance (our first Vet back) too!

Ladies runner of the day goes to Michelle Fowler.

STANDARD TIMES 2015

Hi everyone it is that time of year again! Standard Times! 🙂

The standard times scheme is designed to give all club members something to aim for throughout the year.

Full information and standard times can be found on these pages:

Ladies’ Standard Times

Men’s Standard Times

If you’d like to apply for an award this year, please download and fill in THIS FORM

When you have filled the form in, please email it to hrcstandardtimes@gmail.com

PLEASE don’t change the layout – it’ll make life really difficult! Just fill in the form, save it, and send it to us :)

Basic rules:

The deadline for submitting your form is midnight on Saturday 2nd January 2016, due to time constrains no exceptions will be made. If you know you are done with races for the year, it would be great if you could get your form in sooner as the presentation night is a week earlier this year.

You need five times for an award and nine for a distinction, these should be different distances. Times should be from races run between January 1st and December 31st 2015. Officially measured courses only, including Parkruns.

Please include within the form any highlights, lowlights, funny stories etc.

You will receive confirmation via email within FIVE days of sending your standard times application. If you don’t receive this, please contact myself (Sally Henderson) or Sarah Garford, as this will mean we have not received your form and therefore you will not receive your award.

Bagworth Heath XC 2015 Results and Runner of the day

A massive thanks to all those who came to either run or support at the XC last Sunday. Great to see so many runners and supports. Mostly for the tent presumably! Which did a good job, easy to put up and take down. Easy to get in the bag, lightweight too. Could use it for any summer event as a marque.

Whilst not a record attendance for the XC, not too far off. We had 7 first timers running a Derby Runner League XC in a HRC vest. All thoroughly enjoyed the experience, especially Michelle! Well done for plucking up the courage to give it a go, a bargain at £3! We are looking forward to this being the first of many for you all.

Final results are out and on our results page, we have improved since the last one and doing fab!
Team Overall 2nd in League 1, up from 7th in the last race and now sitting in 4th place.
Men 5th in League 1, up 2 places to 5th now.
Ladies 2nd in League 2, up 1 place to 2nd now.

Simon Birch did well to lead for a lot of the race with Ben Harding pipping him to the post though to finish 1st HRC man, 7th in the race with Simon 8th in the race.
Ben Masser was next for the men in 31st place, an epic performance for Ben!
Some good banter between Steve and Simon Early helped spur them both on swapping places towards the end too.

Men’s runner of the day goes to Steve Penney, well done Steve!

Simon Earley and Steve Penney
A great turn out for HRC ladies, unfortunately we didn’t out number the boys on this occasion! 8 of us in total braved the cold weather to indulge in our love of mud with 3 of those tying cross country for the first time and from the smiles at the end I think everyone enjoyed it and will hopefully be back for more.

New girl Rebecca Gould ran her first race for the club and put in a fantastic performance, 1st lady back for HRC ladies and finishing in 6th position.
Bethan Padbury wasn’t far behind, as usual Bethan made it look easy and finished in 7th place.
Kate Perkins again had a brilliant race finishing 11th.

Michelle Fowler, Leanne Byard and Kirsty Pollard ran their first cross country race Michelle scoring for the team as our Vet lady, Leanne and Kirsty seemed to have a great time and we’re all smiles at the end as for Michelle I think deep down she loved it!

My Lady runner of the day goes to Rebecca Gould her 1st race in a HRC vest and she put in an amazing performance I’m looking forward to seeing what mores to come from Rebecca in the future.

Rebecca Gould
Rebecca Gould

A massive well done to all the HRC ladies for running and see you all at Bradgate for more muddy fun!

Next XC race is this weekend at Bradgate Park on Sunday the 6th December 2015. I know how much everyone loves to train at Bradgate. So if you haven’t tried XC yet, this is as good a one as any. It was a brilliant event there last year and this one should be even better.

Huncote Hash Sunday 3rd January 2016

The Huncote Hash is the best way to burn off those extra holiday calories and have some good fun. Just check out the pictures on the website, most are of Hinckley runners in fancy dress. Often a theme too.

Stream is mandatory, a nice 10k (ish) off road course. Great atmosphere and event.

Markfield XC 2015 Results and ROD

Last Sunday 11th October 2015 saw the first XC of the season at Markfield. A regular fixture helped some to compare performances against previous years, both in time and finishing position.

Limited parking as always, so as usual a good level of car sharing or alternative transport helped limit the cars. Keep it up please!

Thanks and well done to everyone who raced or supported!

Final results are up. As a team we are 7th in League 1. This is based on the top 7 men (including 2 vets) and 3 women (including 1 vet). Men are 6th in League 1. Ladies are 3rd in League 2.

We had 12 men race and everyone did brilliantly! Tom Shardlow was first back for Hinckley and 5th overall. Ben Masser was 2nd back for us and 4th in his agecategory. Well paced Ben (and thanks to Paul Clayton for helping him!). It was Joseph Langham’s first XC race for the club and he had a fab result at 116th! Well done. Everyone said how great it was to see Adrian back racing, good to have you back!

Men’s ROD goes to Rolf Hoelmer, a great effort on the day following continual improving over the last year.

Many thanks to the 10 lovely ladies who took part in this year’s first cross country. 4 ‘crazy girls’ actually ran over…3 of them then taking part: Sarah Garford, Helen Wilebore and Sally Henderson. This was Sally’s first XC too! Thanks to Julia who, after running over, provided lots of support to our runners.

Bethan Padbury was first lady home for HRC (5th lady) .. she really is going from strength to strength.
Kate Perkins was hot on Bethan’s heels after putting in anther strong performance and finishing 6th lady.

Celine Guery ran an excellent race … can you believe she completed a marathon (smashing her PB) just a week before! This girl is a machine!!

I loved the way Gemma Daniels’ body language said “Why am I here?” at the start and then greets you with a huge smile at the finish line … That’s WHY you were there Gemma!

Jacqui Campbell and Charlotte Sinclair represented the ‘C’ Group in style .. this was Charlotte’s first cross country race – in borrowed shoes, she didn’t hate it .. and WILL be back!

My lady runner of the day is Kim Spratt .. she is now becoming a ‘regular’ in a blue and white vest at races and gave 110%.
Congratulations Kim and a massive Well Done and Thank You to all.

Thanks for the photos Chris Langham!
